Reputation that follows you.
Multi-domain, portable, transparent, user-controlled, and forgiving. Your reputation is built on W3C Verifiable Credentials — cryptographically signed, impossible to forge, and owned by you.
The Problem with Platform Reputation
Reputation is fragmented. Your GitHub contributions say nothing to Airbnb. Your eBay seller rating is invisible on Fiverr. Your Stack Overflow score is irrelevant on LinkedIn. You rebuild from scratch on every platform.
Platforms calculate scores with opaque algorithms you cannot inspect, audit, or challenge. They can delete your reputation at will — years of careful work erased by a policy change or a false positive in an automated system.
You are renting your reputation from corporations who can evict you without notice.
Seven Reputation Domains
Reputation is not one number. It is a multi-dimensional profile across distinct domains, each with specific credential types.
Marketplace
Transaction completion, buyer/seller ratings, dispute outcomes
Governance
Proposal authorship, voting participation, arbitration service
Resource Sharing
Time banking hours, resource offers fulfilled, reliability
Data Quality
Data product ratings, accuracy scores, privacy compliance
Content Creation
Peer reviews, curation quality, originality verification
Technical Contribution
Plugin development, bug reports, code reviews
Community Moderation
Dispute resolution, community service, mentorship
Key Properties
Time Decay
Reputation must be continuously earned. Old credentials carry less weight than recent ones. You cannot coast on past achievements.
Trust Delegation
Trust a community member on a topic, and their endorsements carry weight in your network. Revoke delegation at any time.
Selective Disclosure
Choose which reputation domains to reveal. Show your marketplace score without exposing governance participation.
Zero-Knowledge Proofs
Prove your score is above 4.5 without revealing the exact number. Prove you have 50+ transactions without listing them.
Reputation Recovery
People make mistakes. Systems should allow redemption. Made Open's reputation system is designed to be forgiving:
- Negative credentials expire after 2 years — the past does not haunt you forever
- Rehabilitation programs allow structured paths back to good standing
- Redemption credentials issued by community arbitrators demonstrate growth
Bootstrap from Existing Platforms
You should not start from zero. Import your existing reputation via OAuth from platforms you already use:
Imported reputation is converted to Verifiable Credentials in your wallet. The original platforms cannot revoke what you have already earned.
